The client

The client is one of Mexico's three largest self-service retailers by revenue and store count, with hundreds of locations nationwide in formats ranging from hypermarkets to neighborhood stores. It competes in a market where ANTAD member chains sold more than MXN 1.6 trillion in 2025, with 36% of those sales coming from grocery and perishables.

In that business, the scale sits at the heart of fresh-food sales. Produce, meat, deli, bakery and dairy are weighed, labeled and priced based on what the device reads. When a scale goes down, the counter stops, the line grows, and shoppers walk away with less than they came for.

The challenge

The chain needed a single accountable partner that could keep thousands of scales running across every store in the country, regardless of brand, model or location.

  • National scale: 4,000+ devices in hundreds of stores, from major metros to towns where a qualified technician is not around the corner.
  • Multi-brand, multi-vendor fleet: scales from different manufacturers and generations on the same network, each with its own parts, procedures and quirks.
  • Direct revenue impact: a device out of service in a fresh department hits customer service and basket size immediately.
  • Regulatory stakes: in Mexico, scales used in commercial transactions must comply with NOM-010-SCFI-1994 and pass periodic verification by PROFECO, the federal consumer protection agency, so their technical condition is more than an operations issue.

Service scope

Preventive

Get ahead of failures

Scheduled maintenance routines across every store to keep devices in good shape and reduce breakdowns on the sales floor.

Corrective

Repair on site

Nationwide break-fix and on-site device repair to put every scale back in service within the agreed service level.

The solution

Redsis's Technical Services Division took over end-to-end maintenance of the chain's scale fleet: a multi-brand, multi-vendor, multi-location service model that covers every one of the client's stores in Mexico under one support structure and one service-level commitment.

The service pairs scheduled preventive maintenance with corrective support and on-site repair. For the client, that means one point of contact for the whole network instead of juggling several providers depending on each device's brand or each store's region.

What the service model covers

Redsis also brings its experience as a retail-scale distributor and integrator in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil, which gives the team first-hand knowledge of how these devices are used, configured and tend to fail in day-to-day supermarket operations.

  • Nationwide coverage across all of the chain's stores.
  • Preventive maintenance to catch wear and faults before they reach the counter.
  • Corrective maintenance and on-site repair of devices.
  • Multi-brand, multi-vendor support, regardless of where each device came from.
  • SLA-driven management, with a 99.9% service level.
