The client

The client is one of Colombia's leading natural gas distributors, serving about 2.5 million customers in the country's central region. The company markets and distributes residential and vehicular natural gas, an essential public service for millions of households and businesses.

Like any utility, it handles critical information every day: customer data, technical and operational documents, financial information and files exchanged with partners and contractors. Protecting that information, and knowing at all times where it lives and who is accessing it, is part of running the business.

The challenge

The company wanted to move the management of its critical information to the cloud while giving every employee secure access to company data, wherever they were working. The goal was to centralize, not scatter.

  • Cloud-first: the solution had to be implemented entirely in the cloud, with no new on-premises infrastructure.
  • Secure access: thousands of users needed to work with company files without exposing them.
  • Employee devices: information on PCs also had to be protected and traceable.
  • Reasonable cost: the solution had to be affordable enough to roll out company-wide.

The solution

Redsis deployed Fortra GoAnywhere MFT, Fortra's managed file transfer platform, in the cloud on containers. The container-based deployment enabled a fast rollout and an environment that is easier to scale and maintain.

On that foundation, the company adopted two GoAnywhere collaboration modules: GoDrive, to sync and share files securely across employees and teams, and Secure Mail, to send encrypted files and messages straight from email. The solution was integrated with the company's Active Directory and its mail service (SMTP), and complemented with traceability for employee PCs.
